Welcome to GO Global Social Work
We created this site to explore the world through a social work lens. Thus, we will share information about global issues and concerns from a social work perspective. We’ll also share our opinion on pressing global issues. GO Global Social Work encourages dialogue and discussion about how we can promote global shared well-being and the common good.
GO Global Journey: Travel as a Lifestyle
We are participating on the Spring 2019 Semester at Sea voyage. Larry will be teaching three course on a cruise ship that circles the globe. This four-month adventure will take us to ten countries — Japan, China, Vietnam, Myanmar (Burma), India, Mauritius, South Africa, Ghana, Morocco, and The Netherlands. In essence, the ship is a “floating college campus” of approximately 600 students, 25 faculty, and 100 staff. We are excited about this unique opportunity to visit seven countries we’ve never visited, interacting and working with faculty from across the country, and sharing with students an international perspective to social work and social welfare. GO Global Scholarship at WKU
The GO Global Scholarship was established to support social work students in having international learning experiences. Through the GO Global Scholarship, we hope to support world travel experiences for students entering the social work profession. We believe this experience will have a life-changing effect for the student and a crucial impact on their professional practice. We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with WKU, “A Leading American University with International Reach”, where Larry is a faculty member in the Department of Social Work and Erlene is an alumna. They are delighted to work with WKU to provide life-changing learning experiences for those entering the world-changing profession of social work. Together, let’s GO Global! Go Tops!
